Sanghyuk Shin, PhD, was named the winner of the ATS BEAR (Building Education to Advance Research) Cage competition. Earlier this year, early career investigators submitted research proposals to the ATS BEAR Cage competition for a chance to win a $5,000 grand prize.
Dr. Shin is an assistant professor-in-residence at the University of California, Los Angeles, Fielding School of Public Health in the Department of Epidemiology. His proposal was “Unmasking Resistance: Impact of Low-Frequency Drug Resistance on Molecular Diagnosis of Drug-Resistant Tuberculosis.”
