Post-Intubation Pulmonary Complications:  VAP and Beyond
This evidence-based symposium will update clinicians on the incidence of VAP and other post-intubation pulmonary complications, and the impact on economic and patient outcomes. VAP will be distinguished from other infectious pneumonia by the types of microorganisms responsible, antibiotics used in treatment, methods of diagnosis, prognosis and effective preventive measures. Prevention of VAP is a multidisciplinary effort in which physicians, nurses, respiratory therapists, infection control practitioners, and administrators play a vital role.
