Meet the Blue and Red Journal Editors

ATS 2010 attendees will have a new and exciting opportunity at this year’s International Conference: the chance to talk with the editors of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine and the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology.

“We’d like people to feel part of our journal community,” said Jacob Iasha Sznajder, M.D., the editor of the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine, often called the Blue Journal, who will lead the session with Kenneth B. Adler, Ph.D., editor of the American Journal of Respiratory Cell and Molecular Biology, often called the Red Journal.

The session, which will be held on Monday, May 17, from noon to 1 p.m., in Room 298-299 on the second level of the Morial Convention Center will be informal, with an emphasis on exchanging ideas and answering questions. The editors will open the session by briefly discussing recent developments, such as journal podcasts, pro/con editorials and the fellows’ recommended reading section.

The goal is to inform attendees of the editorial policies of both journals, the process of manuscript submission and review, and to answer questions about what kinds of articles the two journals are looking to publish.

Drs. Sznajder and Adler emphasized that the session is open to all conference attendees, from those who frequently submitted articles to the journals to those who have never submitted an article before. Fellows, post-docs and others who are at the beginning of their research careers, as well as international scientists, are especially encouraged to attend.
