A sensitive eye and an intimate relationship to his subjects are signatures of Ed Kashi’s work. As a photojournalist, he uses graphic and ultimately revealing images to change people’s minds on topics from climate change to the global epidemic of chronic kidney disease among agricultural workers. Much of his work exposes geopolitical and social issues, including those that contribute to health care crises.

Mr. Kashi said that he takes on issues that stir his passions about the state of humanity and our world. “I’m driven by this fact: The work of photojournalists and documentary photographers can have a positive impact on the world.”

During his presentation at ATS 2019, Mr. Kashi will discuss photojournalism in promoting world health and take attendees on a visual journey through his projects on early Alzheimer’s disease, ending river blindness in Senegal, and chronic kidney disease of unknown origins.
