Expert Panel Unravels ILD Cases in New Web Video Series

The Society, in collaboration with Boehringer Ingelheim Pharmaceuticals, Inc., has released the ATS Video Case Study Series, a collection of online case studies that were developed to provide education for clinicians about the diagnosis of interstitial lung diseases, idiopathic interstitial pneumonias, and idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, and test their knowledge and competence. The videos are available at the ILD Education Center.

Attendees may visit the Clinicians Center in Lobby D (Ground Level) San Diego Convention Center to learn more about the series and the ILD Education Center.

The ATS Video Case Study Series features 13 episodes of unscripted multidisciplinary interactions by a panel of interstitial lung disease experts who present and discuss actual clinical cases evaluated by regional experts experienced in the management of ILD.

“Ascertaining an accurate diagnosis of ILD/IIP and IPF can be a challenge,” says panel expert Ganesh Raghu, MD, an ILD pulmonologist who is professor of medicine and director of the Center for Interstitial Lung Diseases at the University of Washington in Seattle. “It often requires multidisciplinary discussions among experts at regional centers of excellence familiar with management of ILD/IIP.”

The panel also includes ILD pulmonologist Fernando Martinez, MD, professor of medicine and executive vice chair of the Weill Cornell Medical College and New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center; pulmonary pathologist Jeffrey Myers, MD, professor of pathology and director of the Divisions of Anatomic Pathology and MLabs at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor; chest radiologist Sudhakar Pipavath, MD, associate professor of radiology at the University of Washington in Seattle; and rheumatologist Virginia Steen, MD, professor of medicine at Georgetown University in Washington, D.C.
