Darrell G. Kirch, MD

Distinguished physician, educator, and medical scientist Darrell G. Kirch, MD, will help kick off ATS 2018 as the featured speaker at the Opening Ceremony. Dr. Kirch is president and CEO of the Association of American Medical Colleges. He speaks and publishes on the need for transformation in the U.S. health care system, and how academic medicine can lead change across medical education, biomedical research, and patient care.

Dr. Kirch has a career that spans all aspects of academic medicine and includes leadership positions at two medical schools and academic health systems, as well as the National Institutes of Health. He also previously served as CEO of the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center at The Pennsylvania State University.

ATS President Marc Moss, MD, will also speak during the Opening Ceremony and present several respiratory health awards.

Immediately following the Opening Ceremony, all Early Career Professionals (residents, post docs, inter-professionals, and other early career professionals) are invited mingle with peers at the Networking Exchange. During this networking event, you’ll also be offered information about different events and resources to ensure that you get the most out of the International Conference. Complimentary drinks and appetizers will be served. Get to know the leaders in the ATS and learn how you can become an ATS member for FREE!

This event is supported and organized by the Membership, Training, and Members in Transition and Training committees. The event is free to paid conference registrants, but registration is required.
